Christmas at the Chestnuts 2021!

On Tuesday 17th August we enjoyed a boat trip on the Kingfisher! Its was so nice to get back to going out and all residents thoroughly enjoyed it!!
On Tuesday 27th July, the residents enjoyed a BBQ in the garden, they managed to sit out until the heavens opened and the rain came! Another is organised for August!
On Monday 5th July it was Thank you to the NHS and Social Care day. The staff celebrated by having cup cakes and alcohol free prosecco! Lesley is very grateful for all the hard work the staff have done over the past 18 months and through COVID and felt they deserved a small treat!!
On Thursday 20th May, the residents enjoyed a trip to the seaside. They had fish and chips on the seafront and then we drove to Tankerton to have an ice cream. An enjoyable but chilly day!
We are very lucky that our dream team Trevor and Jane keep our garden so beautiful! Jane has a degree in horticulture and has make the garden looks amazing with colours and different flowers. Every year Jane continues to surprise us with her ideas and creations!
The residents enjoyed an afternoon of VE celebrations, cakes and music!
This year we celebrated Easter with cake, church services and cards made from Chantry Community Academy! They sent all the residents cards and plant pots filled with eggs and flowers!
We are also very grateful for the community for donating cakes and for relatives who donated chocolate and eggs to the staff!
As part of hydration week Tamla had an afternoon of making mocktails! The residents enjoyed the afternoon and are keep for another one to be put on!
On Friday Friday 12th March, Tamla organised a special Mothering Sunday afternoon with music, afternoon tea and cakes! She felt as the residents couldn’t go out and celebrate we should bring the celebrations in! We also received some lovely letters from the local school. The cakes where all kindly donated by people in the community and we enjoyed poems from Aileen and Pearl!
Every Tuesday afternoon we welcome Sharon our arts and crafts lady into the home to engage with the residents and make different things. The residents thoroughly enjoy this and look forward to their Tuesday afternoon visits from Sharon! Sharon is also included in our weekly testing protocol.
During the COVID 19 pandemic we have not been allowed to carry on our usual motivation lady coming in, therefore our activities coordinator Tamla has been doing the classes ebery week. As you can see they are a big hit with the residents and enjoyed by all!
We celebrated Keith 99th Birthday in style! He had a birthday breakfast, his favourite tuna sandwiches for tea and had lots of presents and cards sent from family and friends! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH!
We went out on a much needed drive through the countryside. We took our flasks of tea, plenty of cake and biscuits and sat on Meopham Green and enjoyed them! We look forward to more drives out and in the future more trips.
On 10th February we enjoyed a snowy day at the chestnuts. Snow covered our grounds and the residents enjoyed looking out the windows and some even a walk in the garden!
On Monday 1st February we celebrated “Dignity Action Day” The residents wrote down their thoughts about dignity and they where glued to the dignity tree we made! This was followed by a quiz and wishing Rob a wonderful birthday! All residents enjoyed tea and cake and good chit chat!
Due to lockdown of the home this was the first Christmas in years we had all residents in the home! Therefore it was made extra special this year! The residents enjoyed presents on the tables and a 4 course Christmas Lunch! The home was beautifully decorated and in total we had 5 trees up!
On Tuesday 22nd December we welcomed Santa into the home from the North Pole! He delivered all the residents presents and stayed for an afternoon of mince pies, music and the residents singing Christmas Carols!
On Wednesday 16th December the resident enjoyed a film afternoon “A Christmas Carol” and enjoyed popcorn and mince pies! Defiantly something we will be continuing in our new log cabin!
